Across the Pond
A Day on the Links
After the first dozen trips in his links travels, the author offered a new approach to describing links golf. Rather than a catalogue of courses by region or a hole-by-hole course description, Across the Pond takes the reader on a shot-by-shot tour from drive, to fairway, to green. Individual holes featured in 80 color photographs from all the golfing states of the British Isles illustrate those shots. Historically significant events related to the course also get into the text as does commentary from the members of the literary world. The result is a memorable excursion from the reading chair. If the reader cares to, it can be read in about the same time it takes a Scot to complete his round.

What They’re Saying About the Book
I am pleased that I broke my rule that I would never buy another golf book. Across the Pond will stand the test of time, as I measure a book; would you want to read it again. I will.
Joseph S. F. Murdoch, Founder, Golf Collector’s Society
A loving stroll across the ancient links, in the learned, literate company of Bernard Darwin, Henry Longhurst, and others.
George Peper, co-author True Links
If one is traveling to “the golf treasure house of the world” — Ireland and the United Kingdom — make this book required plane reading. Michael Schaefer’s enthusiasm and love for the game will make your trip that much more enjoyable.
Richard E. Donovan, co-author The Game of Golf and the Printed Word
Mike Schaefer’s links photography goes past documentation to essence.
Bob Labbance, Editor, Bulletin Golf Collectors’ Society
